The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce that Sigma's full-frame mirrorless camera, the Sigma BF, has been selected for the "Gold Selection" in the JIDA Design Museum Selection Vol.27, organised by the Japan Industrial Design Association (JIDA).
The JIDA Design Museum Selection invites recommendations widely, primarily from JIDA members, and each year selects products with outstanding design. The "Gold Selection" is awarded through a special screening conducted with external experts as juries, and is given to products among the selected items that particularly embody the spirit of the times or demonstrate exceptional design quality. This year, 5 products out of a total of 59 selected items received the "Gold Selection," and this marks the first time that a Sigma camera has been chosen for the "Gold Selection."
Overview
Selected product: Sigma BF
Product information: https://www.sigma-global.com/en/cameras/bf/
Evaluation comments by the Jury:
In addition to its seamless body, carved from a solid aluminum ingot, the camera offers a satisfying weight that conveys the tactile richness and materiality of metal. The subtle tapers in the details and the precisely machined knurled surfaces create a grip that feels as if it gently adheres to the hand, embodying an exceptional industrial design that appeals to both sight and touch.
Its unique user interface, which allows intuitive fingertip control of settings such as shutter speed and aperture, also provides an immersive shooting experience.

Exhibition Support to Takashi Homma: SONGS-
The Most Important Things of Refugees

©Takashi Homma
Sigma is offering exhibition support to the official TABF exhibition Takashi Homma: SONGS-The Most Important Things of Refugees throughout Week1 and Week2.
In this project, Japanese photographer Takashi Homma visited the homes of refugees and internally displaced people living in Bangladesh, Colombia, and Japan. Through ongoing conversations and encounters, he captured the personal belongings that carry memories of home--objects that people held onto even in their displacement--and illuminated the individual stories that numbers alone cannot convey. This work, SONGS The Most Important Things of Refugees, was presented as a co-organized initiative by Setouchi Triennale Executive Committee and UNHCR at Setouchi Triennale 2025.

Award Overview
Award-winning product: Sigma BF
Product information: https://www.sigma-global.com/en/cameras/bf/
Evaluation comments by the Jury:
If the concept of a "digital camera" did not exist today, and only the technology of "taking photographs" were known, the tool created for that purpose might have taken the form of the Sigma BF.
It possesses a freshness reminiscent of the impact felt upon first encountering the iPod or iPhone, and embodies a beauty that arises from pure dedication to its purpose.
The essence of the Sigma brand is clearly embodied here: an idea that places the lens at its core, refining the camera body to the utmost degree and elevating its purity even further. It is a product that rekindles the long-forgotten excitement of encountering truly inspiring product design.

Sigma 300–600mm F4 DG OS | Sports
Name of Award: EISA ULTRA-TELEPHOTO ZOOM LENS 2025-2026

Citation
The Sigma 300-600mm F4 DG OS | Sports lens is designed for sports, action, and wildlife photography. It stands out for its brightness of F4, superior to most competitors that stop at F5.6-6.3, and for its soft bokeh, thanks to the 13 aperture blades. Composed of 28 elements in 21 groups, it includes FLD, SLD, and high refractive index lenses for effective correction of chromatic aberration and excellent sharpness at all focal lengths. An HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) motor manages internal focusing, and the barrel is designed to reduce heat absorption and prevent dust ingress. The function ring offers two modes: Focus Preset and Power Focus functions. It's an excellent option for wildlife and action photographers.

For the fifth consecutive year, Sigma is making its mark on the city of Arles during the opening week of the Les Rencontres d'Arles, this year showcasing the unique perspective of Marc-Henri Ngandu on the sidelines of Fashion Week.
Beyond the meticulously staged scenes and the splendor often associated with them, Fashion Week is also a theater of fascinating chaos and agitation, where the accidental becomes the subject. Photographer Marc-Henri Ngandu moves away from the usual, static, and predictable compositions to capture, as closely as possible, the essence of these intense, colorful, and striking moments.
Equipped with his Sigma fp, he embraces the unexpected. Taking his gaze from official iconography, he plays with focus shifts and the off-camera space to capture what usually goes unnoticed. What is meant to draw the eye dissorlves into blur, while marginal figures enter the frame and gain unexpected prominence, revealing a different photographic substance.
Through a subtle play on subject hierarchy, he composes a parallel reality where the background can take center stage. Here, a hastily captured gesture takes on a painterly dimension; there, a silhouette on the edge of the frame becomes the main subject. Each image becomes an exercise in reassembling reality, an attempt to give form to a choreography that we sense but cannot always grasp. This series of images engages the viewer's gaze and invites reflection on the mechanisms of visibility: Who decides what is meant to be seen?
With this new exhibition in Arles, Sigma reaffirms its commitment to new photographic approaches: supporting emerging perspectives, enabling artists to express themselves freely, and offering a space for contemporary photography to thrive.

Location: 21 Rue du Pont, Arles

KIKUJI KAWADA: Endless Map - Invisible
Curated by Sayaka Takahashi (PGI)
Co-produced by: SIGMA × KYOTOGRAPHIE

SIGMA and KYOTOGRAPHIE (Kyoto International Photography Festival) are honored to be part of the Associated Program at Les Rencontres d'Arles 2025, following our successful participation in 2024. This year, we are proud to present KIKUJI KAWADA: Endless Map - Invisible under the curatorial direction of Sayaka Takahashi (PGI) at VAGUE, Arles.
This exhibition builds upon KYOTOGRAPHIE 2024, bringing together key works by Kikuji Kawada from his iconic series -- The Map, The Last Cosmology, Los Caprichos and Voltex. It offers international audiences a rare and immersive encounter with one of Japan's most influential photographic voices.
At SIGMA, we believe in elevating engineering to an art form-and in devoting that engineering to the service of creative expression. Guided by the philosophy "The Art of engineering. Engineering for Art.", we have long supported and initiated cultural and artistic endeavors that advance photography and the visual arts.
Our enduring partnership with KYOTOGRAPHIE lies at the heart of this commitment. It is a true pleasure to once again participate as co-producers in the Arles Associé program of Les Rencontres d'Arles.
This summer, we are honored to present KIKUJI KAWADA: Endless Map - Invisible, a project that deepens our collaboration with KYOTOGRAPHIE 2024 while celebrating the visionary legacy of Kikuji Kawada. We warmly invite audiences from around the world to experience this singular and evocative exhibition.
About the Exhibition
Endless Map - Invisible is the first major exhibition in France of Japanese photographer Kikuji Kawada, co-founder of the VIVO collective and a key figure in post-war Japanese photography. Curated by Sayaka Takahashi of PGI, a gallery in Tokyo representing the artist, this exhibition expands upon the presentation first shown at the 2024 edition of the KYOTOGRAPHIE International Photography Festival. In this year marking the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Endless Map - Invisible brings together, for the first time, photographs from four of Kawada's most iconic series. It traces six decades of Japanese post-war history through the photographer's uncompromising gaze, where layers of time and memory intertwine to form a theater of the world. Through the four series featured in Endless Map - Invisible, Kikuji Kawada offers a deeply poetic and committed vision.
The Map (1959 - 1965) and Endless Map (2021) : The Map, a fully formed book-object later revisited in Endless Map, is a powerful visual response to the trauma of Japan's defeat. It marked a real turning point in photographic storytelling, breaking away from traditional documentary photography of the time.
The Last Cosmology (1995): Conceived as a poetic meditation on Japan's transition from the Shōwa era to the end of the millennium, this series reveals Kawada's fascination with the cosmos and explores the sky as a stage for fate and disaster.
Los Caprichos (1972 - present): Inspired by Francisco Goya's eponymous work, this series has been recently revisited by Kawada. It offers a sharp look at the country's period of economic growth.
Vortex (2022) : Continuing his dive into abstraction and vertigo, Vortex expresses a form of inner collapse and cosmic exploration. Kawada further develops an aesthetic of the fragment, disturbance, and trace, making photography an instrument of thought in the face of the world's instability.
Kikuji Kawada : A Life in Books
At the conclusion of the exhibition, visitors can discover a selection of Kawada's publications, including several first editions, accompanied by a filmed interview with the photographer.
Kikuji Kawada
Kikuji Kawada (born 1933 in Ibaraki, Japan) is a major figure in postwar Japanese photography. After graduating Kawada joined the publishing company Shinchosha as a photographer. He co-founded the legendary VIVO collective in 1959 alongside Akira Satō, Akira Tanno, Shōmei Tōmatsu, Ikko Narahara, and Eikoh Hosoe.
Kawada belongs to a generation that profoundly renewed Japanese photographic language during a time of both socio-political and aesthetic upheaval. His book Chizu (The Map), published in 1965, is considered one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of photography. This visual meditation on Japan's defeat and the nuclear catastrophe, rich in political metaphors and narrative experimentation, disrupted the conventions of the photobook.
Kawada describes his work as capturing "the demons lurking in the era, fixed as shadows of astonishment," adding that "memory itself could then become the mirror of the artist's style." At 92, he continues to renew his vision and revisit his work, maintaining a continuous connection with his audience by regularly sharing his photographic reflections on Instagram (@kawada_kikuji).

Each spring the festival unfolds as an immersive celebration of photography. More than just an exhibition, KYOTOGRAPHIE offers unique experiences where traditional and contemporary expressions intersect. As a platform for encountering diverse worldviews, it fosters new forms of dialogue, and invites audiences to discover new perspectives on the city.
Unconstrained by conventional boundaries, KYOTOGRAPHIE is known for an innovative approach to scenography and thoughtful installations. The experiences crafted by the festival reshape conventional formats, connecting audiences with new ways of perceiving both the work and the spaces around them. It is a multifaceted experience that could have only emerged in Kyoto.
At the heart of KYOTOGRAPHIE lies the Main Programme. Each year, the festival's co-directors, Lucille Reyboz and Yusuke Nakanishi, establish a distinctive theme, around which the programme is curated and artists are invited. Various venues across Kyoto city are transformed into special exhibition spaces through close collaboration between the KYOTOGRAPHIE team, participating artists, venue partners, and scenographers.

Sigma BF
Name of Award: BEST PREMIUM CAMERA

Citation: While many of today's camera offerings sport multiple buttons and dials needed to access extensive and often complicated menus, the Sigma BF stands apart in a way that makes it radically simple. It begins with the design, a unibody construction carved from an aluminum ingot, a highly attractive look that will surely turn heads. The simplicity is reinforced by the camera controls--three buttons, one dial, the shutter release and the power button--which enable easy operation of the shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, EV compensation and color mode. Notably, it does not have a memory card slot, and internally stores up to 230GB of data, exportable via a USB-C port.

Sigma 300-600mm F4 DG OS | Sports
Name of Award: BEST PROFESSIONAL TELEPHOTO LENS
Citation: This high-performance telephoto zoom lens is ideal for wildlife, sports, and action photography, offering both versatility and excellent image quality. Its High-response Linear Actuator (HLA) delivers fast, quiet autofocus, crucial for quick changing action, while its optical design delivers the unparalleled performance of a prime lens. Built with robust, dust- and splash-resistant structure, it can withstand harsh environments, while its 5.5 stops* of optical stabilization at 600mm helps minimize shake under any sort of tough shooting conditions. It also sports a function ring that can be set for a Focus Preset or Power Focus, the latter ideal for video by providing smooth focus shifts at a constant speed.

Sigma Corporation (CEO: Kazuto Yamaki) is advancing its commitment to sustainability by switching from a conventional petroleum-based resin to a biomass-derived alternative for the production of its proprietary material, Thermally Stable Composite (TSC). This shift significantly reduces the environmental impact of Sigma's manufacturing processes.
Effective immediately, the transition to a biomass-derived polycarbonate resin applies to all products incorporating TSC, including the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II | Art. These products will begin shipping in the first half of the Japanese fiscal year 2025. As a result of this change, approximately 40% of all plastic components produced at Sigma's sole manufacturing facility in Aizu, Japan, will utilize this sustainable material.
TSC is Sigma's proprietary composite material and is designed to combine high strength with outstanding thermal stability. Its excellent compatibility with metal components helps ensure high-precision engineering, superb optical performance, enhanced durability, and significant weight reduction.
By adopting a biomass-derived polycarbonate resin, Sigma is able to maintain the exceptional performance characteristics of TSC while taking meaningful steps to significantly lower its greenhouse gas emissions and reduce its overall environmental footprint.
This change reflects Sigma's wider commitment to sustainability, with ongoing investments in environmentally responsible facilities, equipment, and technologies.

KIKUJI KAWADA: The Map / Visions of the Invisible at VAGUE (Arles)
Curated by Sayaka Takahashi (PGI)
Co-produced by: SIGMA × KYOTOGRAPHIE

SIGMA and KYOTOGRAPHIE are honored to be part of the Associated Program at Les Rencontres d'Arles 2025, following our successful participation in 2024. This year, we are proud to present KIKUJI KAWADA: The Map / Visions of the Invisible under the curatorial direction of Sayaka Takahashi (PGI) at VAGUE, Arles.
This exhibition builds upon KYOTOGRAPHIE 2024, bringing together key works by Kikuji Kawada from his iconic series -- The Map, The Last Cosmology, and Los Caprichos. It offers international audiences a rare and immersive encounter with one of Japan's most influential photographic voices.
About the Exhibition
In 1965, twenty years after the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Kikuji Kawada released a photobook The Map -- a haunting, symbolic reflection on Japan's post-war memory that marked a turning point in photographic storytelling and defined Kawada's singular voice. The current exhibition builds on the 2024 KYOTOGRAPHIE presentation that brought together three of Kawada's most significant series: The Map, which explores the nation's fractured identity through metaphor; The Last Cosmology, a poetic meditation on Japan's transition from the Showa period to the end of the millennium; and Los Caprichos, conceived during the country's economic rise and recently reexamined by the artist. Together, these works offer a rare view of a six-decade journey through Kawada's uncompromising lens -- an artistic and historical arc adapted here with scenography tailored to Arles.
Curated by Sayaka Takahashi (PGI, Tokyo)
About the Artist: KIKUJI KAWADA
Born in Ibaraki, Japan in 1933, Kikuji Kawada is a pioneer of post-war Japanese photography. In 1955, he joined Shinchosha and later became a freelance photographer, co-founding the influential VIVO collective in 1959 alongside Akira Sato, Akira Tanno, Shomei Tomatsu, Ikko Narahara, and Eikoh Hosoe. His 1965 photobook The Map is considered a landmark in photographic history, loaded with post-war political metaphor and experimental storytelling.
Kawada describes his work as "an expression of a specific scene in time and my relationship to it, framed accordingly, and the style born from the exchange." Today, he continues to create thought-provoking imagery and shares his photographic musings through digital platforms.

About Les Rencontres de la photographie, Arles 2025
Founded in 1970 by photographer Lucien Clergue, Les Rencontres de la photographie d'Arles (Les Rencontres d'Arles) is the world's oldest and largest photography festival, celebrating its 56th edition this year. Known for inspiring KYOTOGRAPHIE, the festival features complex exhibitions using historical landmarks from the Roman era. It attracts photographers, curators, journalists, and fans from around the globe, serving as a major hub for discovering talents and fostering cross-disciplinary exchanges.
About KYOTOGRAPHIE International Photography Festival
KYOTOGRAPHIE is an international photography festival based in Kyoto--a city that garners global attention as a centre of culture and the arts in Japan.
KYOTOGRAPHIE is about bringing people together, creating moments where difference is celebrated, and genres are encouraged to converge. As a space for the unexpected to emerge, the festival embraces possibilities : building, dismantling, reimagining, and reconnecting--always evolving.

SIGMA AIZU JAPAN
The World of Cameras and Lenses
Sigma, a manufacturer of cameras and lenses, and GREEN WISE, a company specializing in green space design and maintenance, both based in Japan, will collaborate at Milan Design Week 2025.
This exhibition will showcase Sigma's latest mirrorless camera, the Sigma BF, alongside a selection of over 70 Sigma products including cameras, lenses, and accessories. Additionally, GREEN WISE will present an installation inspired by the natural environment surrounding Sigma's factory in Aizu, Japan, the company's sole production base.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the new perspectives of cameras and lenses, and the profound connection between nature and people, extending beyond the inherent beauty of photographic equipment.

Founded in 1961 by Michihiro Yamaki, Sigma is a family-owned Japanese manufacturer of cameras, lenses, and accessories. Today, the company is led by his son Kazuto Yamaki. The Aizu factory, established in 1973, remains Sigma's only manufacturing base, with the company placing great importance on completing all production processes, including the supply chain, entirely in Japan.
By concentrating production in the northeast region of Japan, Sigma ensures seamless collaboration across departments and companies, rigorous quality control, and the creation of high-quality products. The factory's location in Aizu, a region renowned for its crisp air and clear water, along with the diligent nature of its people, shaped by the deep snow and natural beauty of the area, forms the foundation of Sigma's essence.
All of the products in the Sigma lineup have been designed by IWASAKI DESIGN STUDIO's Ichiro Iwasaki, who has also worked on furniture for Arper (Italy) and lighting for Vibia (Spain), since 2012. This exhibition will feature a selection of over 70 Sigma products released over the past decade, offering visitors the chance to experience the Sigma BF firsthand and view a display of disassembled product components.
By taking the time to carefully observe and handle the cameras and lenses, visitors will experience how these tools evolve from mere equipment into instruments imbued with purpose and conviction. Through the GREEN WISE installation, inspired by the rich natural landscape of Aizu, we hope visitors will feel the deep connection between the craftsmanship of the people behind these manufactured products and the nature that sustains them.

On February 24, 2025, Sigma Corporation (CEO: Kazuto Yamaki) will adopt a new visual identity for its products and brand.
Since Sigma's founding in 1961, we have continued to innovate and push the standards of optical engineering out of a deep respect for the creative ways photographers and filmmakers engage with the world. With our new visual identity, we refocus on the essence of our manufacturing philosophy and communicate our desire to provide outstanding products and services to our customers.
The way cameras and photography relate to our lives is constantly changing, as the industry undergoes constant evolution and occasional revolutionary leaps. At the same time, the fundamental desire at the heart of photography - to capture and share moments - remains unchanged. Our new visual identity reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting this pursuit through exceptional craftsmanship and creativity.
Wordmark & Symbol

The most striking changes concern Sigma's wordmark and symbol.
The new symbol is a contemporary update of the symbol that has been in use since Sigma's founding. Based on the Greek letter Σ, it reflects the name of our company and symbolizes the guiding idea behind our manufacturing philosophy: every single product is the sum of the technology, experience, passion and expertise of everyone involved in its creation.
Our new visual identity will be gradually introduced across Sigma's products, website, social media and product packaging.
SIGMA AIZU JAPAN

Sigma's production is entirely based in Japan, with every lens, camera and other product manufactured at Sigma's factory in Aizu and our supply chain concentrated in the Tohoku region. Our commitment to keeping everything local has resulted in the unique levels of craftsmanship, know-how and technology that define our products today.
In our future brand communication, we will place more emphasis on the origin of our exceptional quality: Made in Aizu, Japan.
Art Projects and Deeper Commitment to the Arts

As a camera and lens manufacturer, we have always been deeply motivated by the art of photography. We are inspired by the passion of photographers and filmmakers everywhere and hope that our relentless pursuit of quality and innovation will help artists realize their visions.
Supporting the photographic and visual arts is a core tenet of our corporate mission. In addition to our ongoing sponsorships and partnerships with numerous festivals and cultural events, as well as maintaining, growing, and exhibiting our library of photobooks, we will continue to expand and deepen our support of the arts through several new endeavors.
With the launch of our new visual identity, we are introducing Art Projects, a new initiative in which we will collaborate with artists to produce and share their work. The first artists to work with us are Solve Sundsbo and Julia Hetta.

A radically simple camera that evokes the essence of photography
A full-frame mirrorless camera offering an unprecedented intuitive shooting experience
Staying close to the photographer, the Sigma BF captures the beauty that lies hidden in everyday life, and becomes the catalyst to be aware of that beauty.
The BF focuses on the joy of photography that a camera as a tool can provide. By simplifying and stripping away all excess elements, this full-frame mirrorless camera redefines the process of taking a photograph as a natural act.
The unique user interface, which provides a new sense of connection between the photographer and the camera in a true seamless unibody, is more intuitive than ever with its pressure-sensitive haptic buttons and dial. The high definition expression of the approximately 24-megapixel full-frame sensor and the reliable dual autofocus system bring your vision to life.
[Key features]
Simple, clear, and completely new user interface
The user interface has a completely new information structure compared to conventional digital cameras, with the main shooting-related settings stored on the live view screen, secondary settings in the optional menu, and management functions and detailed settings in the system menu. Users can easily operate the shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, EV compensation and color mode, along with other important shooting-related elements at the touch of a finger. Combined with the auto setting, the functions of the general shooting mode dial are also covered.
Clear live view and status monitor
The default live view screen displays only the minimum necessary information and can be changed to display no information at all. Since the currently active setting is displayed on the status monitor, the users can concentrate solely on composition and the subject on the live view screen.
Minimal controls and haptics
All controls are integrated into just three buttons, one dial, the shutter release, and the power button. The BF is the first mirrorless camera* to incorporate haptics into its Dial, Center button, Option button, and Playback button, resulting in minimal physical wear. The buttons are always accurate and comfortable to press.
* As of February 2025, by Sigma.
Unibody structure
The BF is the first camera in history* to feature a true unibody, which boasts unprecedented rigidity. Each camera is carved from a single, solid block of aluminum ingot over the course of seven hours. The reliable, comfortable weight of its seamless all-metal body harmonizes perfectly with any attached lens.
* As of February 2025, by Sigma.
Internal storage
The BF features 230 GB of internal memory, capable of storing more than 14,000 JPEG files, 4,300 uncompressed RAW images or 2.5 hours of video at the highest-quality setting, with the USB-C port offering fast charging and data-transfer speeds.
Various color modes
Thirteen different color modes are available to open up new avenues of creativity. The modes range from unique options like Teal and Orange, Powder Blue, and Warm Gold to creative yet versatile options such as Rich and Calm.
Evolved autofocus
A hybrid autofocus system combining image phase detection and contrast detection utilizes state-of-the-art algorithms to capture subjects accurately and reliably. In addition to people, dogs and cats can be detected in the subject detection mode.
Video shooting (6K, L-Log)
The BF supports high-resolution 6K and L-Log recording, enabling video production that takes advantage of the wide dynamic range of a full-frame sensor.
Equipped with L-Mount
The L-Mount lens mount allows the camera to be used with a wide variety of interchangeable lenses for mirrorless cameras from Sigma as well as other L-Mount Alliance partners.

Thank you very much for your continued support.
We would like to inform you that we have released a PC application (Mac version) that allows you to change the internal program of the SIGMA fp camera, which, as we informed you on December 11, 2024, consumes more battery power than expected even when the power is off when a lens is attached.
Please enter your SIGMA fp serial number on this page to determine whether or not your camera is affected by the problem. If you have a SIGMA fp with the applicable serial number, please follow the instructions on this page to download the PC application and update the camera's internal program. Please note that it is not necessary to change the camera's internal program for SIGMA fp cameras with serial numbers other than the applicable serial number, or for SIGMA fp L cameras.
We kindly ask for your continued support of our company and products in the future.

SIGMA Corporation (Headquarters: Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan / CEO: Kazuto Yamaki) is pleased to announce its participation to the "Arles Associé" sequence of the Rencontres d'Arles held in Southern France from Monday, July 1st to Sunday, September 29th 2024. SIGMA will present together with KYOTOGRAPHIE International Photography Festival (hereinafter referred to as "KYOTOGRAPHIE") the program "TRANSCENDENCE" featuring Mayumi Hosokura, Ai Iwane, Momo Okabe, Mayumi Suzuki, Hideka Tonomura, and Tamaki Yoshida. The curation is by Lucille Reyboz and Nakanishi Yusuke, Founders and Directors of KYOTOGRAPHIE.
Collaboration with KYOTOGRAPHIE
SIGMA explores the possibilities of photographic technology to provide artists with better tools. Our approach is driven by a simple idea: Beyond the technology, is Art. To that end, we manufacture each component of every product in our own production facility in Aizu, an area in Japan's northeast region rich in history and natural beauty.
One of the main motivations behind our uncompromising attitude toward photographic equipment lies in our desire to support the creativity of artists around the world who continue pushing the boundaries of visual expression to capture truth and beauty from new perspectives.
SIGMA regards it as a great honor to participate in the 2024 edition of Rencontres d'Arles via the group exhibition "TRANSCENDENCE," co-organized with our long-term partners at KYOTOGRAPHIE. This exhibition seeks to overcome and erase the various cultural, national, and gender-related boundaries that still exist in art and photography.
We look forward to our first-ever participation in an international photography festival held overseas. This collaboration provides a valuable opportunity to connect with photography, videography, and art enthusiasts from around the world, fostering new relationships and inspirations from this global gathering.
About TRANSCENDENCE
"TRANSCENDENCE" is a photography exhibition featuring the works of six Japanese female photographers, exploring diverse photographic languages as tools for affirmation and healing. Inspired by the "10/10 Celebrating Contemporary Japanese Women Photographers" exhibition organized for KYOTOGRAPHIE's 10th anniversary in 2022, this exhibition showcases series by Mayumi Hosokura, Ai Iwane, Momo Okabe, Mayumi Suzuki, Hideka Tonomura, and Tamaki Yoshida. The venue design is crafted by Hiromitsu Konishi, KYOTOGRAPHIE's renowned scenographer, and the exhibition will be held at Vague (Arles), located in the heart of Arles and directed by designer and creative director Teruhiro Yanagihara.
About Les Rencontres de la photographie, Arles 2024
Founded in 1970 by photographer Lucien Clergue, Les Rencontres de la photographie d'Arles (Les Rencontres d'Arles) is the world's oldest and largest photography festival, celebrating its 55th edition this year. Known for inspiring KYOTOGRAPHIE, the festival features complex exhibitions using historical landmarks from the Roman era. It attracts photographers, curators, journalists, and fans from around the globe, serving as a major hub for discovering talents and fostering cross-disciplinary exchanges.
