FAQ
CAMERAS
The Rugged SSD by LaCie is the recommended 4TB SSD to use with the fp / fp L.
A mobile battery that complies with the USB BC standard is available. However, we cannot guarantee products that have not been verified by us.
The shutter speed for flash photography at fp L is 1/15 second or less. However, when 14bit DNG (default DNG setting is14bit) is selected, it will be 1/10 second or less.
It is possible. However, it depends on the amount of current supplied from the USB terminal of the PC used.
Cinema DNG is the only RAW that can be recorded directly with the camera. Prores RAW and Blackmagic RAW are supported for RAW recorded by external devices via HDMI.
You can select the electronic image stabilization on the fp series only when the in-lens optical image stabilization is turned off. In addition, it may not be available to choose with certain settings, such as when shooting DNG or at extended ISO settings.
When you place the cursor over an grayed-out item on the menu, a message will appear that explains why the item cannot be selected.
No, you cannot use the electronic and optical stabilization at the same time on the fp series.
Unlike regular sensors that capture information of just one color per pixel, the SIGMA sensors are revolutionary full-color image sensors that are capable of capturing full-color information with a three-layer structure. This removes the necessity for color interpolation, and makes images in principle free of color artifacts, which means that there is no need for a low-pass filter. Foveon sensors can capture all the light and color information, creating high-resolution three-dimensional images that look very realistic.
LENSES
HLA is SIGMA's proprietary linear autofocus motor. It drives the focus lens directly without going through gears or other mechanical parts, resulting in quiet, fast and extremely precise autofocusing.
Focus breathing will occur, but it is kept to a relatively small amount.
No. The SIGMA 14mm F1.4 DG DN | Art has a different shaped filter holder than the SIGMA 14mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art (FHR-11 for Canon EF mount). The sheet filter cannot be shared.
There are currently no plans for the service to be available for lenses for Nikon Z mount.
For Sony E-mount, L-Mount, Canon EF-M mount, and Micro Four Thirds mount: the focus shifts clockwise to near distance and counterclockwise to far distance.
For FUJIFILM X Mount and Nikon Z mount: the focus turns counterclockwise for short distances and clockwise for long distances.
The focusing lens group of SIGMA lenses equipped with the HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) motor is not fixed in position when the power to the lens is off, which means the lens may make a sound when shaken along the optical axis. This is completely normal.
When you place the cursor over an grayed-out item on the menu, a message will appear that explains why the item cannot be selected.
When the MFL switch is set to the LOCK position, the focus ring operation is disabled, but AF operation is possible. So please check if the setting is set to AF.
Also, even with the MF setting, there are some camera bodies that temporarily operate AF by operating the AF-ON button, so please check the camera body settings.
Focusing accuracy may decrease when the rotation angle is small. If there is a problem with accuracy, set a larger angle of rotation (a large focus throw) or set to non-linear focusing.
Update the lens firmware to the latest version and the menu will be displayed.
No. For this reason, we have also included a plastic lens cap. Also, please note that it cannot be used together with the metal cap hood.
Yes, you can use our Mount Conversion Service to have the mount of your interchangeable lens converted to another for a fee.
The following three kinds of correction are available: peripheral illumination correction, chromatic aberration, and distortion correction.
Note:
・Function available on supported cameras only. Available corrections or auto correction functionality may vary depending on the camera model.
・On cameras where lens aberration correction is controlled with 'ON' or 'OFF' in the camera menu, please set all aberration correction functions to 'ON'(AUTO).
Yes, that is correct.
CINE LENSES
Please contact your local SIGMA dealer or service provider for further information.
Yes, they may be used on conventional still camera bodies, but the Program Mode, Shutter Speed Priority Mode, and AF functions will not be accessible.
The current models of our cine lens lineup are not compatible with teleconverters.
Yes. The coatings are also the same, simplifying color correction.
The cine lenses each have models compatible with the Canon EF mount, Sony E-mount, and Arri PL mount, allowing them to be used by the main cine cameras on the market. For further information, please contact your local SIGMA dealer or service provider.
The SIGMA CINE LENS are compatible with SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11 and SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-31. MC-11 allows SIGMA lenses with the EF mount to be used with Sony E-mount camera bodies. MC-31 allows SIGMA lenses with the PL mount to be used with L-Mount camera bodies.
Yes, a fee is required for the Mount Conversion Service. For more information, please contact your nearest SIGMA representative directly.
The internal mechanism of the SIGMA PL mount cine lenses are very different from EF mount and E mount. Therefore to change the mount, we need to dismantle the whole lens.
To guarantee the performance of the lens once dismantled, it requires the same exclusive equipment as building a lens from scratch.
Considering the delivery date and cost, we have not covered PL mount for the mount conversion service.
The lenses we have currently launched all have the same front diameter, but their lengths are all different. All of the lenses have the same gear diameter and positions as well. Respective numbers for future lenses are still to be determined.
The lens mount establishes an electronic connection with the camera, allowing lens data to be transmitted (focal length, shooting distance, aperture, etc.). The data that is recorded varies by camera.
Note: This feature is not included on PL mount lenses that are not compatible with i/ Technology.

ACCESSORIES
You need to remove the EVF-11 to use the HDMI output.
Recording to an external SSD is possible by using the SSD dedicated terminal on the side of the EVF-11.
No, they cannot be used in combination with teleconverter.
SOFTWARE
Depending on the computer environment, it is identified that the GPU Acceleration Mode cannot be activated or the software crushes down when activated. In such cases, it is assumed that the VRAM data is less than 1 GB or the driver of the graphic card is not updated to the latest version.
When those phenomena are identified, it is recommended to check the followings to address it
GPU Acceleration Mode cannot be activated
it is not possible to activate it when the VRAM data is less than 1 GB.
Please check the detailed information, such as the name of the graphic card, driver version and VRAM, under the column of "GPU Acceleration" in the "Preference Settings".
In case the software crushes down
Driver may not be the latest version. By updating it to the latest version, the software might operate properly.
Note
Updating the driver to the latest version may have some effects on the operation of other software or the PC.
For Windows: in order to update it to the latest version, select "Device Manager" in the Control Panel, and use the right-click on the graphic card to select the "Update Driver Software" under the "Display adapters".
For Macintosh: in order to update it to the latest version, select the "About this Mac" and click the "Software Update" button.
